About this Talk
This presentation will serve as a general overview and introduction to the indigenous languages of North America. North America is a huge and extremely diverse linguistic area with as many as 42 different language families and in addition to this, several dozen language isolates (unique languages unrelated to any other in the world). I will discuss some of the more common features of indigenous North American languages from the Inuit-Yupik-Unangan, Na-Dene, Algonquian and Uto-Aztecan language families, including phonology and grammar.
