From internalising to fully integrating the language

About this Talk

From internalising to fully integrating the language.

As language learners, we've been taught many techniques to "acquire" the language, and "assimilate" it. Acquisition and assimilation are the lowest levels in language learning. But the array of techniques starts to dwindle when we start aiming towards internalising the language, to successfully incorporate it in our lives, or in our expression. But what happens beyond the internalisation point? What happens when we want to reach the highest and deepest level of learning? Here there is close to nothing that speaks to the learner's need to "integrate" the language which is to make the language learned into a whole, fully combined and merged with the individual.

Languages are perceived and treated still as separated boxes external to the individual, like countries from which we will always be either foreigners or natives. But what about the fluid middle space of "not-native" but "not-foreigner"?

In my presentation, I talk about that in-between space in languages where we are not native but want to achieve our own status of ownership and mastery. I will share what this status of ownership and mastery of the language means, and how to get there.

Learning methods. Holistic learning. Embodied learning. Mindset.
